Bann ASC get a narrow win over Templemore

Banbridge Amateur Swimming Club travelled to the neutral venue of Bangor and came away with the narrowest of victories over Templemore last Saturday night, winning 203-197.

The Medley Relays were neck and neck, two wins each.

Group A girls were led by Katie McFarlane. She had a superb night winning all her individual races. She was joined by Ciara Daly, Holly McKibbin, Alana Burns- Atkins, Holly Hubert and Megan Williams, all of whom put in fine performances.

The Group A boys were also going to excel. Brothers Bailey and Noah Breen were ready for action as were Pearse Rice and Orrin Miskimmons. Bailey came in second in backstroke and first in all the rest.

Group B girls have now moved into their second year of team competitions. Sarah McEvoy leads the team and she is joined by Ellie Bingham, Dia McCrory, Niamh McGeown and Sara Calvert. Sarah in particular was in top form and came 1st in freestyle, second in breaststroke, third in backstroke and fly.

Group B boys were in good shape. Ronan Quinn led this strong team and by his side were Jack Dougan, Jack Lennon, Peter McGrath, Carter Bell and Christopher Mahood. Ronan was second in breaststroke and third in backstroke, fly and freestyle. Ronan pulled off his best freestyle time to date with a 17:00 seconds.

Group C girls were led by Rachel Blemmings. She was accompanied by Jennifer Morrow, Clodagh McGrady, Elinor Bradley, Kevina Burns and Olivia Miskimmons. Rachel was first in breaststroke and second in backstroke, fly and freestyle.

For the Group C boys, Peter Bigley led his friends Taylor Hill, Sam Johnston, Niall McGeown, Finlay Wright, Ben Farson and Senan Carr by winning his backstroke and coming second in fly and freestyle.

Group D girls were super strong. Julia Knox led well by winning all her races.

The Group D boys were on a roll and they consisted of group leader Ryan Bigley and his comrade, Dawson Patterson, Daniel Brown and Adam Wilson. Ryan was on top of his game and came first in every event.

When the freestyle relays were about to start, the team knew they were only two points ahead and held that lead by winning equal races.

Banbridge now have to compete with Coleraine and Bangor. They may move up this year to competing in the A final with Ards and Bangor.

Next up is the swim against Coleraine in their pool on Saturday 18th April.
