'˜Big guns' fire as race for pool league resumes
Title contenders Fairhill Hustlers, Minnesota Inbetweeners and Connolly’s all recorded victories to boost their hopes of landing the crown.
Minnesota Inbetweeners 4, Michelin Masters 2: Ryan Logan got the Inbetweeners off to a great start with a come from behind 2-1 win over Davy Armstrong. Jimmy Knowles then levelled the match for Michelin with a 2-1 win over Gary Ormandy. Dessie Cooper restored the lead for the Inbetweeners with a 2-1 win over Rick McMaster. Clem Howard made the match score 3-1 for the Inbetweeners with a win in straight frames over Alan Armstrong. Gareth Rowe then recorded a fourth win for the home team with a 2-1 win over Henry Eagleson. In the final game Brian Hanna pulled a game back for Michelin with a 2-1 win over Phil Houston.

Hide AdCoach 5, Fairhill Dreamers 1: The first two games were 2-1 victories for the Coach, their winners being Aidy Rouke and David Carlisle who defeated Linzi McClelland and Barry Kernohan. Robert Artt made the match score 3-0 for the Coach with a win in straight frames over Alastair Lowry. Chris Gordon and Frazer Young then recorded two more 2-1 victories against Nigel McMaster and Billy Lowry. In the final game Justin Kilpatrick avoided the white wash for the Fairhill with a come from behind 2-1 win over Darren Gilmore.
Connolly’s 4, Moat A 2: Pat McAnally got Connolly’s off to a perfect start with a 2-0 win over Barry Weir. David Nicholl then hit back for the Moat and he recorded a win in straight frames over John McAllister to level the match. Alan Rainey put Moat ahead with a 2-1 win over Alan Davidson. Ryan Foster then levelled the match score at 2-2 with a win over Darren Campbell. The final two games were awarded to Connolly’s as the Moat could only field four players.
Fairhill Hustlers 6, Social Club 0: This was a very one-sided match in which Hustlers won without even dropping a frame, through Ritchie Irwin, Sean Brannigan, Glenn Mairs, Paul Hayes, Rab Graham and George McCullough.
