Both Hilden teams fall to defeat while Malone fare no better

Hilden went down by four shots at home to Sydenham in the quarter final of the Irish Bowling Association Intermediate Cup.

In an intriguing game there was only a shot difference at 10 and 15 ends before Sydenham edged it in the end.

Hilden had only one winner and it was left to Colin Montgomery to prop them up for most of the game, but they could not find the final surge which could have taken them to victory.

Montgomery lifted four and three early on to lead 13-3 at the tenth and another four gave him a 21-4 lead at 15 ends. In the end though Sydenham came back to narrow the gap to 15 shots.

Despite lifting an early three Keith Morrison was 5-16 down at the tenth and 10-18 at 15 ends before losing by ten shots.

Down 9-10 at the tenth Jonathan McMullan was 13-19 adrift at 15 ends, but finished with one, four to cut the advantage to two shots.

At the tenth Raymond Gourley was 7-6 ahead but 10-14 down at 15 ends and lost by seven shots.

Robin Campbell was the only winner for Hilden B when they lost by 29.5 shots away to Ards B in Private Greens Division 5.

His rink won by four shots.

David Nelson was the only Malone winner when they lost by 17 shots at home to Willowfield B in Private Greens Division 4.

Nelson won by four shots and Harvey Townsend came close - only losing by a shot.

Charity coffee morning at Hilden

There will be a charity coffee morning at Hilden Bowling Club tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to 12 noon.
