Bowls: Curran Ladies return to winning ways
Curran Ladies returned to winning ways this week at home to 2014 champions Newry.
On rink one, P. Blair, S. McDermott J. Spiers and L. Simms played extremely well to record a 19-shot to 11 card over a strong home rink which was skipped by Sadie Rice. M. Hardy, L. Swann, R. Gallagher and V. Noble seemed to be coasting on rink two when leading by 11 shots to 6 after 12 ends.
But M. Loughran (Newry) stormed back registering eight shots to Curran’s one over the remaining six ends for a 14 – 12 victory.
Result: Curran LBC 31 shots (4 points) v Newry LBC 25 shots (1 point). Curran travel to Lagan Valley (Lisburn) on Thursday (July 9).
