Cambridge House pupils jump to inter-school success

Cambridge House Grammar school pupils have been enjoying considerable success in equestrian activities this year.

This year, pupils from the Galgorm Road school’s Open Show Jumping team have been competing in the Meadows Equestrian inter- schools league against fourteen other schools in the province.

It has required skill, dilligence and perserverence from those taking part and their commitment has been rightfully rewarded in their results.

After competing in five rounds of competition from September 2014 to January 2015 the Cambridge House team have won the league.

It also means they have gained a position in a prestigious two day event in Kildare for the All-Ireland Inter Schools League.

The team have consistently achieved good results throughout the competition and were in joint second place with Ballymena Academy until the last two rounds of the competition.

Their dedication and persistence has paid off despite adverse weather conditions and early Saturday morning starts.

Particular congratulations are due to Nikki McNeice (Year 13) and Charlotte Harding (Year 9).

Both girls are regualr members of the team and have competed in every round of the competition.

On occasions both girls have had to ride twice on different horses and consequently have made an invaluable contribution to the standard of show jumping at the school.

Courtney Wray (Year 11), Laura Millar (Year 9) and Ellie Humphries (Year 9) also took part at certain times throughout the league.

NOVICE

The Cambridge House Novice Team has also competed in the league throughout the year.

They were placed 5th in the last competition and have also displayed great team spirit throughout the year.

Congratulations to Charlotte Harding (Year 9), Lindsey Cameron (Year 11), Beth McCartney (Year 9) and James McNabney (Year 8).

Both teams will be competing next in a one day event at the Meadows on the 17th March and everyone connected with the school wishes them well in this venture.
