Cowboys miss opportunity to go top

Carrick and District Pool League: With the Galacticos v. Scorpions match postponed, Cowboys had an opportunity to move back to the top of the table. However, they laboured to a 7-7 (3-4, 4-3) draw at home to Barbarians for whom John Barrons secured the point winning the last frame of the match.

Swift move level on points at the top with Galacticos after a 10-4 win at home to Eastway, but the Galacticos do have two games in hand.

In the Whitehead derby match it was Spartans who took the honours winning 9-5 (5-2, 4-3) over Trojans. The two teams were set to meet again on Monday in the Home and Away Cup quarter-final.

Hitmen and Her had a comfortable 10-4 (5-2, 5-2) win away to Alpha. Andy McMeekin was top off the pots with a fine hat-trick.

In Ballyclare, the 39ERS kept up their recent good form with a resounding 12-2 (6-1, 6-1) win against GWMSC. Gary Cowan, Kyle Kirkwood and Neil Campbell all scored trebles. Teddy Bears edged a close match against second-bottom team Warriors to earn three welcome points.
