The Warriors were narrowly defeated in their first game by the Leinster Lightnings, a very strong side dominated by Irish International players. Although beaten, the Warriors can be very pleased with their performance in that game, with a young side, led by Andrew McBrine.

The team has shown the desire and ability to learn quickly in this new format of Interprovincial senior cricket and the management team have maintained their focus on the training and development of the younger players in the region.

The Knights have yet to play a One Day game this series or indeed any Interprovincial games since last year and they will be anxious to get their campaign off to a good start.

As part of their preparations they had arranged a friendly at Bangor on Sunday against the Ireland under 19s, but this was unfortunately abandoned due to the poor weather conditions.

The Coleraine Club and supporters are hoping for some local representatives on the Warriors side which has yet to be announced, but both Niall McDonnell and Rishi Chopra are named in the squad, to play the first Interprovincial three-day game at Bready this week, starting on Tuesday 20th May.

Niall was the top-run scorer in the Premier League last season, and was a huge part of Coleraine’s success in the League. Rishi has been playing at Coleraine throughout his school life, and now at 18, with multiple under age Ireland performances under this belt, he is already having an impact for Coleraine this year, with eight wickets from four games.

He also took two wickets for the Ireland under 19 team in the match against the Knights on Sunday, which was abandoned after 39 overs of the Knights’ innings.

With the 50 over Interprovincial game starting at 10.45am on Monday 26th May and entry free for spectators, it is hoped that a good crowd will come along to support the teams.

The game is played in coloured kit with the white ball and it should be a very competitive match as the Northern Knights start the defence of their 2013 title.
