Thompson looking for double

Thompson helped the Waterside men book their place in next month’s Senior Cup final, where they will meet Donemana for the third year in a row, after seeing off Bready by five wickets in Saurday’s last four encounter.

Then on Sunday he scored 40 runs in their 39 runs victory over Ardmore, at Beechgrove, to move within two points behind leaders Strabane.

Meanwhile elsewhere this weekend, it was one to remember for Eglinton, who also secured two victories in the league.

On Saturday, they had a five wicket success over bottom side Fox Lodge, while on Sunday, Stuart Thompson showed his class with an excellent century. The Irish International hit 15 fours and 2 sixes on his way to 111, as the Villagers defeated Bready by 79 runs.

Also in the Premier League, Strabane maintained their lead at the top with a seven wicket success over Ardmore on Saturday, while in the other Senior Cup semi-final Donemana seen off Coleraine winning by six wickets.

On Sunday, the North West’s hopes in the Irish Senior Cup came to an end with both Coleraine and St Johnston losing to North Down and Clontarf respectively.
