With Richhill first and second teams having no weekend games due to the adverse weather conditions, it was the Club’s third team, Richhill Swifts, which took centre stage in their Lonsdale League fixture against Armagh Celtic at Sherries Field.
Veteran midfielder Willie Anderson, who has also served the club’s first and second teams over the years, produced a masterclass performance with a double strike as he proved that his 52 years is no obstacle to success.
While Anderson provided experience, this victory also relied on an excellent performance from Richhill’s current young player of the year Richie Morrison.
Following a few niggly injuries that curtailed his recent playing time, Morrison was rewarded for his hard working performance with a double strike of his own.
Richardson also registered his name on the scoresheet while a late own goal added to Celtic’s misery.
Teenagers Craig Smith and Jordan Roper impressed with Morrison for the Swifts but it was evergreen midfielder Willie Anderson that picked up the man of the match award for his performance on the day.
On Saturday Richhill hope to get back in action with a short trip to Seagoe for their Intermediate B clash.
Many of the games at the weekend were hit by the weather with only a handful taking place.
Portadown BBOB Reserves lost out in a five goal thriller against Derryhirk Reserves.
On target for BBOB were Matthew Donaldson and Stuart Guy.
