The Annagh United Academy programme will celebrate a year of progress tonight (Friday) with a barbecue and fun night.
The Academy’s inaugural year has provided coaching for impressive numbers of boys and girls and membership currently stands around 60.
“We believe kids need to enjoy playing without pressure before they can start to develop their skills,” said Annagh United Academy’s Nigel Armstrong. “We also encourage them to try other sports alongside football to gain a more balanced development pathway.
“We will eventually start teams to compete and are keen to find new coaches that match our ethos.
“The Academy welcomes boys and girls from ages four years old up to 12, of all abilities and those who just want to play each Friday night.
“We have organised a barbecue and fun night for the children and parents, with everyone welcome.”
Future plans for the Tandragee Road club’s youth section include promotion into the Lisburn League for the under 17s guided by Alan Clarke and Gerry Fay.
“We are looking for new players to strengthen the squad,” said Armstrong. “Everyone will get a chance to trial in games arranged over the summer.
“We are also keen to strengthen the under 19s based in the NIFL Youth League.”
