Football: Larne’s misery continues

The misery continued for Larne at the weekend following their 2-0 defeat at Loughgall.

With a reorganised back line including new signing Nathan Morley-Hillen saw Larne started brightly before gifting the home side their two goals.

Paul Maguire had an early chance for the visitors and was unlucky to see his header from an Andy Simms cross fly just wide. Johnny Kernohan should have put Loughgall ahead when played in by Dale Malone but he curled his shot wide of the target.

A minute before the break a Malone corner from the left found Steven Ferguson totally unmarked and he easily found the net. Worse was to follow after the break as caretaker boss Graham McConnell was sent to the stand by the referee following a discussion during the break.

The home side doubled their lead on 62 minutes. Again a set piece caused problems for the Inver Park men. Ferguson, in space, at the back post saw his first header cleared off the line. His second attempt was tipped onto the bar by Morley-Hillen before Josh Finlay fired in the rebound.

LARNE: Morley-Hillen, S.Todd, Young, C.Todd, McAllister, Wharry, Irvine, McClean, Maguire, Workman, Simms.
