Both teams took a while to get to grips with the big pitch and the first 15 minutes proved tight.

Silverwood started to turn the screw and forced the keeper into making a few important stops. John Paul O’Hagan and Ciaran McEvoy were excellent in the centre of the defence, Danny McNally and Danny Magill were getting forward and finding the midfield men Gavin Gowdy and Matty Lowe in control, with Pol Smyth and Kenny Deaverux working hard on the flanks.

Micheal Haughian and Shane Doran were causing all sorts of problems for the Institute defence.

After a long spell of pressure Micheal Haughian was upended just outside the box, the same player produced a sublime free kick to open the scoring much to the joy of the big Silverwood support.

Silverwood were now in control and from another set- piece Kenny Devreaux fired home from close range to make it 2-0.

The second half started at a quick pace and Institute were going for it with Ciaran McKerr forced to pulled off two excellent saves.

However, it was all over when a long ball found Gavin Gowdy, he looked up and spotted the keeper off his line and duly lobbed him from all of 30 yards to make it 3-0.

Stephen Toman, the Silverwood boss, brought on Johnny McAlinden, Dwyer Lavery and John Campbell to see out the game and lift the trophy.

This was a great all round performance from all the players.
