Portadown Youth’s Alberto Balde grabbed a goal off the sidelines but County Armagh finished the Junior section derby with a 2-1 defeat.

County Tyrone raced clear by 2-0 thanks to a second-half goal double off the back of strong work before the break.

The Orchard County boys pushed hard in the closing stages and Balde displayed strength and composure to win possession, retain the ball under pressure and produce the finish.

However, County Tyrone managed to protect the lead until the final whistle.

“They probably won more of the battles and certainly had us on the backfoot in the first half,” said Dean McCullough, chairman of the County Armagh Milk Cup Association. “Alberto scored a good goal, Barney McKeown tested the goalkeeper in the first half and Mark Lucas came close late on.”

Portadown Youth were represented on the pitch by McKeown, Balde and Josh Megoran. Loughgall Youth’s Lucas came off the substitutes’ bench.

Other players on show from the area were Declan O’Neill, Ben Davison, Sam Murphy, Luke Wilson, Tom Weir, Darragh Gray and Adam McAlpine.
