Portadown reserves’ blend of youth and experience resulted in two battling 2-2 league draws across three days against Cliftonville and Linfield.

Gary McCullough maintained his policy of promoting from the Portadown Youth panel, with under 16s and under 17s handed chances to impress in the MUFL Reserve League fixtures.

However, the addition of senior experience in the shape of Billy Brennan, Ken Oman, Jordan Lyttle, Jake Richardson, Paul McElroy and Marcio Soares helped hand the Ports a significant boost.

Pauddy Judge’s strike and a curling Richardson free-kick allowed Portadown to bounce back from 2-0 down on Saturday for a 2-2 draw.

Monday’s meeting at home to Linfield featured a McElroy penalty to break the deadlock before teenager Adam Brown climbed off the substitutes’ bench and levelled at 2-2.
