Portadown Times sports editor Patrick Van Dort talks to a former player about his Shamrock Park career:

NAME: Allan Smart

AGE: 41

POSITION: Centre-forward

TIME WITH PORTS: One season (2006-2007)

CLUBS BEFORE PORTADOWN: Preston North End, Carlisle United, Watford, Oldham Athletic, Dundee United, Crewe Alexandra, MK Dons, Bury (is that enough!)

CLUBS AFTER PORTADOWN: Burscough and Southport

HIGHLIGHT AS A PORTADOWN PLAYER: Scoring the winner late on away to Glentoran at The Oval in December 2006. My eldest boy (Kian) was mascot that day. It was a great finish to the game as I got an injury-time winner in the 3-2 victory over the league leaders

BEST MATE AT PORTADOWN: Peter Kennedy - great lad, fantastic left foot! Top man!

FUNNIEST TEAM-MATE: Mickey Collins - great stories! Funny lad!

TEAM-MATE WITH MOST SKILL: Gary McCutcheon - great ability to finish

PICK YOUR PFC FIVE-A-SIDE TEAM: Kevin Pressman, John Convery, Peter Kennedy, Mickey Collins, Gary McCutchen

PRE-MATCH SUPERSTITIONS: None. I didn’t get too obsessed

TOUGHEST RIVAL PLAYER: Linfield’s centre-backs

RIVAL PLAYER YOU MOST RATED: Gary Hamilton - he was a top finisher and could score goals from anywhere

MODERN LIFE: I have studied since retiring and completed a BA Hons degree plus lecturing qualification. I currently work at football clubs and businesses delivering NVQ apprentice programs and BTEC qualifications. I work with BBC Lancs covering the Championship games, which I really enjoy.
