Portadown’s Nathaniel Ferris returned today (Friday) from his first taste of Northern Ireland Schoolboys having found the net four times inside three days.
The teenager was on target for the under 18s against Guernsey under 21s on Tuesday then followed up that performance with a treble in the final fixture of the mini-tour.
Ferris - fresh from the 8-2 defeat of Jersey - will now join Portadown thirds’ squad for a weekend visit to take on Lurgan Town in the Mid-Ulster Youth Cup quarter-finals.
“It has been a brilliant experience and great to get a goal on my first appearance,” said Ferris following the first fixture of a tour which also included Ross Redman as part of the Northern Ireland Schools’ FA party. “Working with the coaching staff at Portadown has helped me get to this stage.”
