Portadown appear close to confirming the first signings of the Pat McGibbon era.
Irish League sources have revealed to ‘Times Sport’ that former Glenavon captain Brendan Shannon and Lurgan Celtic left-back Adam Rodgers will complete moves this week to Shamrock Park.
Shannon has spent time outside top-flight football with spells at Donegal Celtic and Lurgan Celtic but developed a reputation as a reliable and dedicated defender during his time with Glenavon.
Ports fans may remember Rodgers from his time with the club under Keith Wilkinson’s reserves, with the left-back also on the books at Loughgall and Ards before signing for Celtic.
The double boost will mark the first additions to the Ports roster under McGibbon’s management.
Transfer restrictions placed on the club by the Irish Football Association have prevented Portadown from adding players on professional contracts until June 2017.
Two former Harry Cavan Youth Challenge Cup-winning players - Marcio Soares and Jordan Lyttle - confirmed over the weekend departures to Crusaders.
