Portadown’s pursuit of the Mid-Ulster Youth Cup prize has reached the semi-final stages thanks to a double-figure weekend defeat of Lurgan Town.
Kevin McAlinden, Scott Megaw and Nathaniel Ferris each grabbed a brace apiece - with Adam Brown, Joel Copes and Zac Crooks the other scorers.
“It was a professional performance,” said manager Chris Wright. “The fact that suspended goalkeeper Conor Larkin came down to prepare his replacement says a lot about the squad spirit.
“The applause from his team-mates when we named Luke Wilson the best player after the game was another really positive moment.”
Portadown will face Glenavon tomorrow (Saturday) at Gordon Playing Fields in NIFL Youth League Section A.
