Supporters’ transport has been booked to provide travel to Comber Rec this weekend for David Miskelly’s big day.

Miskelly’s testimonial celebrations kick off tomorrow (Saturday) at a venue just minutes away from his family home but as the start of a programme mapped out to run until next summer.

The Eden Reds Supporters’ Club-organised bus will head off from Gary’s Bar at 1 o’clock and leave Comber Rec around 7 o’clock following the second exhibition match.

Costs have been set as £6 (Eden Reds members), £8 (non-members), £4 (Eden Reds concession) and £6 (non-members concession).

Anyone interested in staying at Park Way for the evening entertainment can return home via Comber Cabs.

The popular Portadown goalkeeper has turned to friends and fans to form a testimonial committee – with ideas covering all aspects of Miskelly’s career.

A Duck Race, with part of the proceeds in aid of Portadown Youth, will run across September within Clare Glen.

Music fans can enjoy Oasis tribute act ‘Roll With It’ at Shamrock Park Social Club during November.

Portadown supporters’ clubs will organise ‘A Night At The Races’ and ‘Mr and Mrs Night’, with the Carrickblacker course to stage a golf day.

An Easter raffle has been planned as another event.

A special dinner in The Seagoe Hotel with Glasgow Rangers and Scotland legend Andy Gorman as the key guest is scheduled for next June.

The final highlight should prove a friendly at Shamrock Park following the end of the forthcoming domestic season.

Portadown Supporters’ Society members have set sights on a summer recruitment drive for the next generation of fans.

Around 1,000 application forms have been distributed to venues such as youth groups and summer schemes in a bid to raise awareness of the popular Junior Ports scheme.

Young fans under 16 years old can sign up for free by simply reporting to the Shamrock Park club shop with a passport-size photograph and completing a brief form. The Junior Ports scheme has been a part of club life for over two decades - with an option to also download a form off the club’s Facebook page.

The inaugural invitational tournament staged between The Ted Clarke Memorial Trust and AM PRO Coaching will run on Saturday, August 6.

Play in Brownstown Park will run from 9.30 - with Portadown Youth one of 16 clubs signed up for the cross-border competition.

The event has been organised as part of The West Community Festival Day at the park from 11.30.
