Rain could stop Carrick’s game with Welders going ahead

Gary Haveron would love to leapfrog Bangor to the top of the Championship 1 table tomorrow night, with his side set to take on the Welders at Inver Park. But, he admits, his Carrick Rangers team may not get the chance to do so.

“I’ll be very surprised if Inver Park gets the green light to host the game after the battering it took at the weekend,” said the Rangers boss.

“It did well to get through Saturday’s game against Dergview, a terrific 3-1 win for us, but there was so much rain beforehand and during the warm-up and match itself the ground was really badly cut up.

“And the rain has been incessant this morning as well, adding to the problems. So, I will be pleasantly surprised if the match goes ahead. But I really hope it does because, when you are winning, you want matches to come thick and fast,” he said.
