Substitute David Ross stepped off the sidelines and scored from the penalty spot as Richhill lifted the derby spoils on Saturday.

Ross made his mark after the break to hand Richhill a 2-1 lead against Markethill Swifts that proved decisive.

Richard Morrison kicked off the scoring in style by controlling and converting on the stretch a free-kick delivery into the Markethill penalty area.

Neil Shaw left the teams level with a measured lob over Neil McCartney but Ross’ penalty kick settled the scoreline.

“We had chances,” said Markethill Swifts manager David Andrews. “They were better in the first half and we probably edged the second.
