The Wee Whites carry the flag

With all the Lisburn League falling to the weather it was again left to mini-soccer to carry the flag for the Lisburn Distillery Academy and the U-10s had two games in which to do so.

The Whites played Premiership Academy side Crusaders at Rathmore and put in a good display. The boys started strongly and Matthew Moore continued his good form by creating a few goal scoring opportunities for himself before the rues came into the game and Lewis Doyle had to make a couple of smart saves in the Distillery goal before a Crusaders player forced the ball home from close range.

James Clyde then got on the score sheet against his former club before Matthew finished well into the bottom corner. It was no surprise to see Jack Bonar also get a goal when he bundled the ball home after a goal mouth scramble. Crusaders pulled another goal back before Jack completed the scoring with a neat finish.

It was then the turn of the U-10s to take on an excellent Larne team at Ballysillan. The Wee Whites started well and threatened to blow away their opponents, with superb chances for Jake Donaghy, Calum Ashby and Conall Cunningham.

Against the run of play Larne took the lead. Instead of letting this upset their rhythm the Wee Whites continued to attack and scored the goal of the day not long after. Intricate passing between Jonathan McCullough, Calum and Ross White left Ross with a tap in to finish off a great team goal. The game changed when Ross left the field with a nasty foot injury. This handed the impetus to Larne who took control of the game. Nothing could be done when a Larne midfielder rifled the ball home from distance. Larne deservedly completed the scoring late on. A disappointing end to what had promised so much for the boys in White.
