Two referees from Portadown have been accepted to take part in the respected Dallas Cup youth tournament.
Ruth-Anne Wright and Jamie Robinson will spend over a week in America officiating at around 12 games involving teams from across the globe.
Sides confirmed included Liverpool, Everton and Valencia - with around 180 teams split across seven age ranges from the under 13s to under 19s.
For Wright and Robinson, the appeal extends off the pitch as the Dallas Cup offers a golden opportunity to build contacts and discuss the game with leading match officials. Special guests this year include Howard Webb and Mike Riley.
“We will be staying with a family and this year is my second at the tournament but Jamie’s first,” said Wright. “We have support from the Irish Football Association and it is a wonderful chance to officiate different styles from all over the world.
“There are also seminars and group meetings between the match officials that will put us together with some really experienced people.
