The Back 9 Sweep and Winter League continued at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.

After three in Division 1 George Watt (5) held a slender one point advantage over Wilson McVeigh (4) and last week’s winner Patrick Coleman (4) with James Taylor (4), Norman Nicholl (4) and Lyle Foster (4) another one, two and three points respectively further behind.

Through Beechers only one point separated the first five players with Watt, McVeigh and Coleman a point ahead of Taylor and Nicholl.

The front three runners – Watt, McVeigh and Coleman were joined by Nicholl in the Lowlands with one to play. With only one point separating the six players with one to play a close finish was envisaged. Watt, McVeigh and Nicholl parred the last to finish one point clear of Coleman (bogey) who was joined by Taylor (par) and Foster (par). First place went to Nicholl with a better back six and with McVeigh winning the Gross, second place was taken by Watt. L.Foster who came late on the scene claimed third place with a better back six. In Division 2 through The Maple Rod Lennox (6) was leading by a point from Keith Dinsmore (9) who was a point ahead of Paul Reid (6) and Michael Montgomery (9. Lewis Surgenor (9) waqs a further point down. Up the Grove and Lennox was still a point ahead of Dinsmore. Reid and Montgomery were another point behind followed by Surgenor who was still in contention another point away. Rod Lennox who was proving hard to peg back increased his lead over the closing two holes and finished with two pars to win by two points from Dinsmore (two bogeys) in second place. Reid (par, bogey), M.Montgomery (two bogeys) and a late surge from Surgenor (bogey, par) saw them finish together a point behind Dinsmore. There was a three way tie for the lead through thirteen in Division 3 between Robin Deane (10), Tony Quinn (10) (‘ding’ at The Maple) and Colin Thompson (10). Ian Manson (10) was a point behind. Up the GroveDeane had taken a one point advantage over Thompson with Quinn and Manson another two points behind. In a close finish Dean (bogey, double bogey) was joined by Quinn (bogey, par) and with a better back six Deane took first place with Quinn second. A point behind Thompson (double bogey, (ding’) was joined by Manson (bogey, double bogey) and with a better back six third place went to Manson.
