Golf: Duddy secures maiden Open victory at Foyle
With the Ballyarnett course in fine condition scoring was of the highest order with Mark Duddy returning an excellent winning score of 42 points virtue of a modest 18 points on the front nine, followed by an explosive back nine where he added a further 24 points to gain his maiden Open victory after a break of tie.
The runner up spot went to Stephen McCaul, with Martin McEleney taking third place with the best of the 39 point returns Damien McKenna returned the best gross score on the day a two under par for a winning gross score of 38 points.

Hide AdThe visitor’s prize was won by Strabane’s Andrew Connolly (10) after he scored 37 points and Nathan Mulligan (23) with 37 points claimed the juvenile prize. The back nine was claimed after a BOT finish by Kieran Doherty (9) after he scored 20 points.
In the Ladies section Alison Elkin (7) with 35 points took top spot after a BOT finish, while the ladies visitor’s prize went to Greencastle member Pauline Sloane (20) after she scored 33 points.
Sunday’s Club Sweep competition was won by Martin McCallion (21) after he scored 44 points and Emmet McNally (9) with 42 points was second.
While last Wednesday’s Stableford competition was claimed by Conor McNally (11) after he scored 42 points and Shane McClean (3) with 41 points was second.

Hide AdThis week’s club competitions get underway today (Wednesday) is the Crumley Construction Monthly Medal, while on Friday the usual Open competition is down for decision.
Open week gets underway at Foyle on Saturday as the JKC Specialist Cars stableford competition will be staged, while Paul’s Butchers stableford competition takes place on Sunday, the Different Class Mens Wear stableford competition is next Monday and the City Hotel stableford competition is next Tuesday.
