Irish Junior success for City of Derry

FOR the second year in a row City of Derry’s Irish Junior Cup team captained once again by the club’s competition convenor Robbie Kennelly were the leading qualifiers in the regional qualifying held this year at Prehen.

Setting off at 8.30am they set a blistering pace with their first man out Graham Hepburn coming home in a finely compiled 75 gross, the eventual best individual score of the day. The rest of the team Brian Long, Stephen McKeegan, Chris Ross and Kaine Lynch were also in fine form to finish with a team total from four cards of 312. Portsalon finished in second place and will meet the third placed team of Ballybofey & Stranorlar in the first round match play stage at Prehen.
