Jeffrey Brown wins the Ross Thompson
sponsored competition

Ross Thompson Fuels generously sponsored the competition last Saturday.

The weather wasn’t too bad in the morning but it deteriorated somewhat in the afternoon. A few players threw in the towel.

One man who started early had his best game for many a day.

Thanks to a new set of irons purchased recently from the professional, Jason Greenaway, the golf game of Jeffrey Brown (13) has reached new heights.

Jeffrey finished with 43 points and he won the competition by two points. He had a brilliant outer nine and he said that he had to do deep breathing exercises on the second nine in order to keep calm.

It worked and Jeffrey was delighted.

The runner-up was John McCormick (13) with 41 points.

Young Matthew Mallon (7) won the low section with 40 points. Jonathan Burns (5) was second with 39 points.

Joe Whiteside (16) won the middle section with 38 points. Brian Grimes (15) was second, also with 38 points.

The best senior player was young Fergie Cosgrove (13) with 38 points.

The coveted best gross prize went to Rory Leonard who beat Jonathan Burns on countback. They both went round in 71 shots, two over par.

Next Saturday is Lady Captain’s Day and all the men sincerely hope that Robena McCandless has a wonderful day.
