McDowell posts top score to wrap up Tandragee trophy

He claimed a single-shot win thanks to nett 65, with Gordon Little second and Gary Mallon home third courtesy of the countback over David Shortt.

Paul Swaffield was fifth on 69 nett following 33 across the back nine to beat Jim Carson. John McAlinden completed the top seven and Ross Dutton lifted the gross, with Norman Baird the leading senior.

The ladies’ club prize - sponsored by Walker Legal - had Julie Swaffield (section one, 74 nett), Ruby Harvey (section two, 79 nett) and Vivienne Loney (section three, 71 nett) in the prizes.

The Open Mixed Greensomes featured Ken Rowe and Sonya Rowe as the leading pair across the Mahon Garden Centre-sponsored Open Mixed Greensomes.

They posted 40 to win by three over Mark Bannerman and Dolores Hamill, followed by Matt Laverty and Linda Weir.


Anglers from Portadown, Richhill and Loughgall will feature on the Team Ireland panel during the World Championships at Craigavon Lakes across May 23 and 24.

Craigavon Lakes recently hosted the Predator Team Ireland qualifiers to finalise a six-man international panel ahead of the 13th FIPSed World Championships Bank Fishing with Lures.

Andrew Powell (Richhill) and Lindsay McFadden (Loughgall) secured spots on the squad, with Colin Rutherford (Portadown) the team delegate.

The qualifying meeting attracted 22 anglers, with a delegation from Latvia also in attendance at the National Coarse Fishing Federation-backed competition.
