McRory secures Match Play Championship

THE Crumley Construction Monthly Medal final saw Colm Norris (12) with nett 68 claim first place.

In the category 0-11 Damien Kivelehan (11) with nett 69 came out on top, with Cecil Thompson (13) with nett 71 winning the category 12-16 and the Category 17 + was claimed by Alan Manning (19) after he scored nett 69. The CSS was 70.

Last Wednesday's confined stableford competition, which took place in terrible wet conditions was claimed by Kevin Dunne (11) after he scored 42 points; second was Donal Hasson (5) after he scored 41 points and Willie Rankin (15) with 38 points was third. The CSS was 37 points.

The Texaco Filling Station Bridgend Singles Match Play Championship Final was played on Saturday between Richard McRory and Paul McEleney and after a fine and competitive match, Richard came through to win at the 17th hole and become Foyle Champion for 2010.

The Annual Desmond Motors Winter League gets underway on Sunday, October 3, the teams of 4 Competition will run until Saturday, December 4, with the top 8 Teams Qualifying for the Finals on Saturday, December 11.

Turkey Competitions Daily from Sunday, October 3 and the Sunday Society gets underway on the same date.

While last Wednesday, despite the terrible wet conditions, sponsors and members of the press were treaded to an enjoyable day, with organiser John Joe Logue claiming the past captain's prize; Arthur Duffy secured the press award, vice captain Kevin Dunne won the council prize and Kevin Crumley secured the sponsors' accolade.
