Shane’s gameclicks into gear

The course at Silverwood on Saturday was in pristine condition with excellent greens to putt on, so there was no excuse not to score well.

Making the most of the conditions was Shane Skelton who returned a score of 44 points. He had a great front nine of 22 pts with one birdie at the 4th hole, seven pars and one double bogey at the 7th.

His back nine was equally as good with another 22 points, with another seven pars, and only two bogeys at for a great total of 44 pts and a comfortable three point victory.

This was no fluke as Shane has been playing solid golf over the last couple of weeks and it was only a matter of time before it all clicked.

Second with 41pts was Bill Geoghegan who had 18pts on his front nine with one birdie at the 7th, one par at the 4th, six bogeys, and one double bogey at the first hole. His back nine was a vast improvement with 23 pts that included seven pars and only two bogeys to claim second prize on a better back nine.

Third was Christopher Lamont with 41pts, he had 20pts on his front nine with 4 pars, four single bogeys and a one double bogey. His back nine of 21pts was compiled with six pars, and three double bogeys.

The gross prize was won with a brilliant gross 66 by +1 handicapper Chris watt,.

Chris has been playing superb golf all year and after shooting a gross 67 in the midweek sweep he went one better at the weekend. He had a front nine of 31 with four birdies and five pars. His back nine of 35 included two birdies and seven pars for a bogey free round of golf.

Fourth place went to club captain Frank Gallagher with 41pts. He had 20pts on his front nine with four pars and five single bogeys while his back nine of 21pts contained five pars and four single bogeys.

Fifth was Gerald Mc Carthy with 40pts. Gerald had 21pts on his front nine that included one birdie, five pars, two bogeys and one double bogey.

His back nine of 19pts had one birdie, two pars plus five bogeys and one double bogey.

The junior prize went to James Judge with 31pts.

The senior prize went to Finbar Headley with 38pts

Section prizes were as follows: 0-12 Desmond Skelton 40pts; 13-18 Eamon Magill 39pts; 19-28 Ernest Mc Bride 38pts.
