Jocelyn Hill, Katie Kane and Molly Fekkes have been offered places on the RYA Northern Ireland 420 Youth squad for 2013-14.

In accepting their places the girls have committed to the squad programme, which is designed to give them the techniques to better their own sailing and to work as a team.

They will also be expected to compete on the Irish 420 circuit to attain a ranking and commit to a succinct overseas event programme.

There is also the requirement attend physical testing sessions throughout the year and commit to a physical training programme.

Whilst this is new to Jocelyn and Molly, Katie has had already had some experience in this discipline.

“The 420 becomes much more technical,” she told the school’s website. “There are more sails to control and it requires you to work well and communicate well with your other crew member. However, it’s a lot of fun and you get to build up some really good friendships.”

Everyone at Larne Grammar wishes the girls every success as they take part in this endeavour.
