Hanover have secured a return to top-flight football after five seasons in Mid-Ulster Intermediate League Section B.

Saturday’s trip to title rivals Valley Rangers resulted in a 4-0 success for the Portadown-based players - with that result confirming promotion up the ladder in the club’s 50th anniversary campaign.

Now the focus is on Hanover completing the season in style as divisional champions.

In fact, the title outcome could arrive on May 30 - the day of Hanover’s 50th anniversary celebration in The Seagoe Hotel.

“It was important to get over the line in terms of promotion, especially as this marked our fifth season in Intermediate B,” said Hanover’s Dean Crowe. “Now the next step is to win the league.

“Saturday’s result against Valley Rangers was a massive boost, not only in terms of the three points but the fact that we scored four goals.

“The title could certainly go down to goal difference so everything counts.

“We had promotion practically wrapped up on the day of the Irish Cup final based on other results.

“However, it was important to go out and make it mathematically safe on Saturday, with Richard Lappin scoring two goals and other strikes by Chris Elliott and Stephen Woods.”

Hanover officials have issued an invitation for any former players interested in the exhibition match to make contact as soon as possible.

The Hanover Legends game at the Brownstown Park 3G will kick-off on Saturday, May 30 from 11 o’clock.

Dinner tickets cost £40 per person, with the price inclusive of a meal and entertainment which will feature a special guest speaker.
