Hill Street make most of their chances

HILL Street took on Derrybeg in the Mid-Ulster Shield and came out with a comfortable 7-0 victory.

Both teams started brightly and each had their chances inside the first 10 minutes. Derrybeg then had a goal disallowed for offside after good play in their midfeild.

This spurred Hill Street on and they started to take control of the match and they got their reward for some neat play when when Paul Mercer was fouled in the box for a penalty which he then converted to make the score 1-0.

Five minutes later Hill Street made it 2-0 when Greig Strewart slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Paul Mercer added a third 10 minutes before half time with another neat finish.

Hill Street started the second half as they ended the first so it wasnt long before another goal came, this time from debutant Graeme McCory who made it 4-0 when he cut in from the left wing to curve his shot into the bottom corner.

Hill Street pushed for more goals and were rewarded when a good corner was met by Gareth Wright who scored a superb header for 5-0. After numerous attacks from Hill Street, Gareth Mcllwaine broke from the back to finish by chipping over the diving keeper.

Paul Mercer then completed his second hattrick of the season when good work from Matt Irvine on the left hand side provided Paul with a tap in. 7-0 finsihed it.
