Hunterhouse girls claim Ireland crown

Hunterhouse College’s Junior Badminton Team are the All-Ireland Champions.

They claimed the crown after a 6-0 win over the Connaught Champions and two 4-2 wins against the top schools in Munster and Leinster to lift the overall trophy.

They had earlier qualified for the Irish Schools Badminton Finals along with the school’s Minor Team. At the Ulster Schools Badminton Association Finals Day on 7 March, they were both victorious to represent Ulster in the Junior Girls Division One and the Minor Girls Division Two age groups.

The Junior Girls team won both the Ulster Schools Junior Cup and League Division One with 5-1 wins against Wallace and the Minor Team, who also played Wallace, won the final of the Minor Girl League Division Two with a 6-0 margin.

They travelled to Gormanston College in Drogheda for the All-Ireland finals. While the Junior team got the win, the Minor Team of Anna Geddis, Charlotte Hutchinson, Katherine Clark and Megan McVeigh came third in their competition.
