Jon records best time to snap up Gardiner Cup

Ballymena Road Club – Chain Reaction Cycles - held their Gardiner Cup 10 miles time trial in the Northstone sponsored club race series at Woodgreen last Wednesday evening.

Conditions were warm and calm, which made the effort on the outward and return legs quite similar and this contributed to four personal best performances.

Steven Workman was fastest with 21 minutes 18 seconds with Jason Burns just 3 seconds slower in second place with 21.21. Handicap result. (For the Gardiner cup)

First season club member - Jon Hilditch, from Magherabeg road in Randalstown, recorded a personal best time on Wednesday night when he clocked 24 minutes 39 seconds to beat his previous best, from 15th April, by 1 minute 14 seconds.

This gave him a handicap time of 22.46 and he won the Gardiner cup as a result.

Daryl Sempey also had a PB and wasn’t far behind in second place with 22 minutes 53 seconds.

Third place went to Breandan McCavana in a time of 23.25.

Fourth placed Jason Burns had a net time of 23.28 and he still leads in the T.T. handicap league competition, although his lead has been cut to just one point over Wednesday’s winner, Daryl Sempey. (5) Laura Blair 24.15 (6) Eileen Burns 24.16
