Larne AC members perform well in Parkruns

Seven Larne Athletic Club members participated in ‘parkrun’ events on Saturday. Paul Tilson travelled to the Waterworks ‘parkrun’ in Belfast, were he clocked 19:29 to finish in 10th place.

Meanwhile, six others stayed a little closer to home; opting for the ECOS ‘parkrun’ in Ballymena. This proved to be a successful outing, with Larne AC celebrating victory in both the male and female categories. Andy Gregg led the field home in 18:15, while Rhonda Brady smashed her previous 5km personal best by nearly a minute when she finished as first lady in 21:29 (12th place overall).

Ian Brennan crossed the line between the victorious pair (21:27) in 11th spot, while Lionel Date (22nd place – 23:22) and Heather Baxter (23rd place – 23:28) proved inseparable until the finish. Heather’s good running was rewarded with a second-place finish in the ladies’ category. Elaine Hall, competing in her first official ‘parkrun’ recorded 26:07 (48th place).

Three club members participated in the Masters 40+ 5600m race at the IAAF International Cross Country at CAFRE Greenmount Campus in Antrim.

Bernard Brady (19:53) took fourth place, with Nat Glenn (19:58) and Craig Hutchinson (20:00) in fifth place and sixth place respectively. Craig’s finishing spot was enough to secure a win in the Vet50 category.
