Larne AC runners win prizes at East Antrim Trail Series

Several Larne Athletic Club runners were among the overall prize-winners as the East Antrim Harriers Trail Series came to a conclusion on Tuesday evening at Woodburn Forest.

Andy Gregg was first home for Larne in 10th place overall with a time of 25:19, winning the series Vet 45 category prize.

Martan Keane was next in 16th place (26:04), with Nigel Kane and Ian McCluggage close behind in 18th (26:28) and 19th (26:41). They were followed by Bert Shaw, 26th (28.41), Emmett Woods, 27th (29.01), Ian Brennan, 29th (29.08), Bobby Boal, 30th (29.34) and Dan Magill, 33rd (30.17).

Rhonda Brady completed her third race of the series in 34th place and a time of 30:39, winning the series Female Vet 40 category.

David Woods, in 38th, was second Under-20 on the night in 31.19, with Jim Evans next for Larne AC in 49th (33:26). Karl Simpson was 50th (33.55) and Glenn Mann 51st (33.56).

Bernie Regan in 55th place won the series Female Vet 55 prize having finished first in her category in all four races.

Clare McGuinness 66th (36.40), Kirsten Montgomery 67th (36.41), Robin Alexander 69th (37.18), Roger Barham, 70th (37.50), Emily Boal, 71st (38.25) and Marty McKay, 72nd (38.38), all coming home to the applause and encouragement of the growing number of Larne AC runners cheering on at the finish.

Laura Brennan finished as first Female Under-20 on the night, a result which saw her win the series prize in the Female U20 category.

Linda Moore crossed the line in 81st place (46.07) with Margaret Ferguson 82nd in 47.54.

Other Larne AC runners winning Series prizes were James Brown finishing in second place in the Male Open category and Irene Beattie winning the Female Vet 50 category.

Runher Pop-up Carnfunnock 5K and 10K

A large number of Larne Athletic Club ladies took part in Wednesday’s Runher pop-up event at Carnfunnock Country Park.

The 5K race began at Drains Bay car park heading along the coastal path into Carnfunnock and completing 2.5 laps of the country park finishing in the Walled Garden.

Larne Athetic Club claimed 2 podium places, with Patricia Blair (21.29) finishing second, Juliane Keane (23.49) third.

The other 5k competitors and times are: Julie Allen 5th (24.56), Laura McAllister 8th (25.36), Kirsten Mongomery 10th (26.29), Kellie Connor 11th (26.50), Shiree Brennan 13th (27.05), Charlene Robinson 18th (28.02), Lyndsey Dillon 21st (28.27), Judith Millar 22nd (28.27), Pamela Ward 37th (30.06), Carol Goodall 39th (30.07), Laura Rainey 57th (32.20), Dawn Niblock 58th (32.23), Marian Mann 59th (32.24), Angeline Davidson (32.39), Norma Johnston 65th (32.59), Cathy Baston 70th (34.43), Lyn Kernohan 74th (36.04), Lisa McHendry 86th (39.17), Helen McCluggage 93rd (40.11), Pamela Gibson 104th (50.31), Mairi McGregor 105th (50.31).

In the 10k race Helen Murray was first home claiming fifth place (51.06), followed by Laura Simpson 12th (54.17) and Bernie Regan 14th (55.29).
