Lennon lifts stableford title thanks to Tandragee form

John Lennon finished in the spotlight at Tandragee thanks to countback success over Don Johnston across the midweek Open Stableford.

Brian Fyffe edged out in front within the Sam Curran Memorial with 40 points off his 10 handicap to claim the inaugural trophy.

Garfield Sherman was runner-up over Andy Latimer, with Eric Hinds next in line.

Graham Harvey was fifth with 37 points and James Hewitt collected the gross. George Quinn edged out Nelson Boyce for the seniors’ prize.

In the Club Stableford, Richard Quinn posted 41 points off his 12 handicap to finish in front of Harry Thompson and Charlie Rowe.

The ladies’ Daisy Ferguson Greensomes qualifier - sponsored by Frances Glass - proved successful for Vivienne Loney and Julie Swaffield. The two players will now represent Tandragee in the regional final at Royal County Down, with Anne Hall and Julie McCarten runners-up.

The Senior Cup team of Stefan Greenberg, Ross Dutton, James Hewitt, William Small and Jamie Stothers posted 300 to qualify second under the guidance of Stuart Paul.

Tandragee will now take on Mourne in the opening round of the matchplay stages.

The Fred Daly players enjoyed derby delight over Lurgan, despite trailing by 4-1 entering the second leg.

David Cunningham won 6&4, Jake Rowe finished with a 3&1 success, Peter Taylor was 1up, Edward Rowe lost out on the final hole and Cameron Fox recorded a 3&2 victory.

The Junior Cowdy players under James Brannigan had wins for Ashley McConville and Matthew Leckey - with Paul Moody and Paul McKeena level against Kilkeel across the first leg.

In the Ronan Rafferty, Tandragee’s home leg finished in defeat to Rossmore despite points from Benjamin Boyd, Ross Taylor and Lewis Fox.
