McCartney quits as Rangers boss

RATHFERN Rangers will this week step up the hunt for a new boss after Ryan McCartney resigned as manager.

The news from the Amateur League 1A club comes just a few days after Ryan's number two, David McCrea, stepped down suggesting he wanted to concentrate on playing.

McCartney said: "It meant I needed to get a new assistant in to help with the coaching side of things with Michael Orchin giving me a hand on Saturdays. I couldn't do it all on my own. The club didn't want an outsider in, but there's not many insiders left who would really want it.

"I thought about it all day on Saturday, and decided I had enough.

"The club tried to talk me into staying and I've been asked to stay on the committee and play for the seconds, but maybe I just need to take a break.

"I'm looking forward to watching my kids play now on Saturdays."
