RALLYSPORT

Portadown’s Jim Hutchinson finished as Irish Grand Prix champion during the recent Mondello Park meeting.

Promoted by Portadown-based The Rallysport Association, the event attracted a packed 38-strong entry list for the sixth annual showcase.

The programme provided a platform for rally, rallycross cars, crosskarts and racing cars to go head-to-head within the 11-class line-up.

Hutchinson steered his RSR Escort to top spot - with competition from familiar faces to the area’s motorsport fans such as Portadown’s Stefan McClelland.

McClelland was runner-up behind Hutchinson in the main event - with Terry McKay from Draperstown crowned Irish Grand Prix race buggy winner.

The class winners were Gareth Hughes, Mark O’Donaghue, Christopher Woods, Barry McArdle, Donagh Kelly, Martin Tracey, Sam Moffett and Sean Casey.

Pat McBennett posted the fastest time.

The Rallysport Association’s next event will be round four of the Summer Championship on Saturday, August 13.
