Seagoe Parish Church is appealing for the return of a volume of missing parish magazines.
The magazines, which are of historic significance, were borrowed from the church several years ago and never returned.
Philip Morrison, a member of the church’s Select Vestry, said, “Our magazines are bound into a book form about every 10 years and the missing volume is of great significance in that it contain extracts from letters by Lt Col Blacker’s letters, who was a parishioner and CO of the 9th Battalion The Royal Irish Fusiliers at the Battle of the Somme.
“A number of historians are very interested in these letters as we near the 100th anniversary of the battle of the Somme.”
The church will also celebrate the 200th anniversary of the consecration of the church next June and would love to include the missing volume in its exhibition.
