The Birches’ Adam Hylands can look back on British, European and World honours - but only has future progress as his target.
World glory across the Two-Litre Hot Rods class helped Hylands bring down the curtain on that discipline in style as 2015 champion.
The double challenge provided by pursuit of honours over the Two-Litre Hot Rods and National sections proved demanding but ended with a string of silverware.
Hylands’ achievements on two fronts led to a recent civic reception as special guest of Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Councillor Darryn Causby.
It was a personal honour for Hylands but the driver grabbed the opportunity to reward his loyal team and sponsors.
“It was a really interesting experience and the Lord Mayor was great,” said Hylands. “It was a lovely honour and especially nice for my family and friends.
“The season is so intensive that you never really get a chance to step back and reflect on everything.
“We had about 40 people at it and everyone loved the occasion
“Now we have some breathing space and the civic reception gave me a chance to show my appreciation to the team and sponsors for such wonderful backing over the years.
“I do not think this past year could have gone any better and it will all sink in down the line.”
The winter run will present the chance to regroup and spark preparations for future challenges.
“Now our focus will go into the Nationals class,” said Hylands. “The main target is to reach the World finals.
“It was great to finish the Two-Litres that way and now I can focus only on the Nationals.”
Anyone interested in joining Hylands’ sponsorship team should make contact with the driver. Also, an open invitation has been extended to attend an end-of-season party at Hylands’ home on November 28.
