Portadown Tennis Club officials will open the Edenvilla Park gates this weekend to the general public in a bid to raise awareness of the multi-court facility.
The latest membership drive is set to offer free junior and adult coaching and a fun tournament alongside family entertainment.
The programme will run tomorrow (Saturday) from 1-5 o’clock and include strawberries and ice cream, a barbecue, face painting, raffle and music.
“This is the perfect time of the year, with the Wimbledon tennis tournament such a big part of the sporting programme for many people,” said Portadown Tennis Club chairman Lyn Jamison. “Children are also off school now and, hopefully, the weather will be kind.
“The club is open to everyone and this weekend offers a great opportunity to get the word out to as many people as possible.”
Ten riders with Velo Club Iveagh tackled the recent 15.5-mile time trial.
“It was a challenging course starting on the Rathfriland Road heading to Katesbridge via May’s Corner and the Diamond before finishing at Ballydown,” said a spokesman for the Scarva-based club. “It’s great to see the gains being made as we reach the halfway point of our season.
“Thanks to everyone at the sign-on and the marshals.”
