Fine form in Foyle as Armagh ladies secure semi-final spot

Armagh ladies sit a single win away from the Inter-Zone Championship final following Saturday’s 24-shot success against Foyle.

The quarter-final clash featured a superb first-half performance by the Orchard County ladies as the visitors enjoyed a 14-shot lead at the break.

The rink scores were as follows in Armagh’s 61-37 win: E.Smyth 16 S.Johnston 5, I.Douglas 6 N.Brown 9, L.Douglas 9 J.Lyndsey 3, R.Cassells 7 L.Hamilton 7, C.McMillen 10 M.Miller 3, P.Beattie 13 V.Witherow 10.

The Orchard County players’ next test will be a semi-final date on Saturday, January 31 against North West - a repeat of last year’s meeting at the same stage.

Armagh meet Oriel tomorrow (Saturday) in the men’s Inter-Zone Championship semi-final. Play in Mullabrack will start at 2 o’clock.

The fixture will mark the third meeting in as many seasons between the sides - with the current tally at a single win apiece.
