Players with Portadown connections lined out recently at Chambers Park for the rugby league State of Origin programme.
Promoted by Rugby League Ireland as an international challenge match, players represented the Elks and the Eagles across two fixtures.
The under 19s’ Northern Ireland panel included Rob Ciack and Jamie Dickson from the town, plus Portadown Pumas’ Jason Gribben.
The Pumas’ Clarke McAllister and Adam Docherty stepped out at senior level against Republic of Ireland.
John Purdy, in familiar territory thanks to a playing role within Chambers Park, also featured alongside another former town representative in Wayne Kelly.
