Portadown men’s firsts cruised past the PSNI challenge by a double-figure margin on Saturday.
The 15-0 tally left club officials dipping into the record books on a memorable afternoon as four town sides produced 38 goals overall.
Adam Stevenson and Gregory Croft each grabbed four goals apiece for the firsts, with Zach McClelland on a senior hat-trick. Stephen Johnston, Matthew Beattie, Stewart Kirkland and Ryan Bennett were the other scorers.
The seconds defeated Cliftonville on a 10-0 tally, with the fourths on top against Harlequins by 11-1. The thirds lost out to Annadale by 7-2.
The high-scoring success will provide the perfect boost for Portadown as they prepare to face another high-flying side, South Antrim,, tomorrow (Saturday) in Lisburn’s Friends’ School.
“We would take a few of those goals this weekend,” said Geoff Edgar, a first-team player and club chairman. “I have been playing for 25 years and cannot recall anything like a 15-0 win.
“I scored in a 12-0 win against Parkview about six or seven years back and that is the closest I can recall.”
