  • More success for European champion
  • Bell also on show from the area

Adam Hylands from the Birches bagged a Ballymena Raceway success across the Richard Turtle Memorial Cup.

The National Hot Rods European Champion dominated the majority of the memorial feature race on Friday.

Hylands had to hold off a late challenge from John Christie before wrapping up the title and a prize of four Hoosier tyres. Hylands also recorded heat success.

Portadown’s Glenn Bell guided the two-litre hot rods car of Joel Richardson around the weekend Tullyroan Oval circuit.

Adam Hylands was relegated from third to fifth in heat one due to contact. He finished heat two as runner-up - with Mark Madill from the area setting a lap record of 13:980 seconds.

Bell crossed the line second in the final, with Madill fifth and Hylands inside the top seven.

Ballymena Raceway will host racing tonight (Friday) with the next Tullyroan Oval meeting on June 21 from 2 o’clock.

Portadown’s Colin Turkington suffered brake issues at Oulton Park in last weekend’s British Touring Car Championship meeting. The defending champion was 25th, eighth and sixth as a result to drop into fifth overall.

Tandragee’s Matthew Sinton will tackle the Downpatrick course tomorrow (Saturday) during round five of the Irish Motocross Championships. Sinton is on board for the semi-expert MXI class.
