Portadown’s Sam McKeown has added to his growing international experience with a second appearance at the World Championships.
The promising prospect finished 12th in Holland representing Ireland men’s under 23s’ quadruple skull.
The 22-year-old also made a trip to Poland for the World University Championships as part of his development plan.
McKeown, currently connected to a Rowing Ireland high-performance panel, has made impressive progress since arriving at the River Bann club as a raw recruit in 2012.
“I worked as a coach with Sam during his early time at Portadown and everyone is delighted to see him getting the rewards for such dedication,” said current Portadown Boat Club captain Matthew McAdam. “We have a dedicated team of volunteers who put so much time and effort into helping nurture and identify talent.
“Sam has a wonderful commitment to the sport and we all are extremely proud of his development.
“We all would love to see Sam reach those goals he has set for himself.
“We all will be watching with anticipation his continued climb and wish him every success.”
