Michael Orr was flying the flag for hometown club Portadown on his home court last week during the County Armagh Junior Championships.
The four-day tournament attracted many of Ulster’s leading teenagers - with six finals on Friday covering four age ranges.
Orr finished as under 18s’ Boys’ Singles runner-up.
The champion, Rory Cunningham, enjoyed success by 6-1, 6-1 and also won the under 16s’ crown at the expense of Bernard McGettigan on a 6-0, 6-1 tally.
Freddie Murray was the winner of the under 12s’ Boys’ Singles thanks to a 6-4, 6-2 win against Caolan McCarroll.
The other Boys’ Singles prize finished with Alexandros Stergiopoulos the under 14s’ champion by beating Jamie Lyle on 6-0, 6-1.
McCarroll and Stergiopoulos combined to claim the under 14s’ Boys’ Doubles trophy with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph against Ben Laverty and Charles Rodriguez.
The under 12s’ Girls’ Singles final featured Amber Young in front against Bronagh Smyth over a thrilling 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 showdown.
Orr was joined on the entry list by club colleagues such as Sammy Davidson, Stuart Hoy and Joe Orr.
“It terms of the weather, we got quite lucky,” said tournament organiser and Portadown Tennis Club chairman Lyn Jamison. “It was especially nice on finals’ day.
