The Richardson’s Meats Winter League at Portadown Golf Club starts on Sunday, October 4 and runs for the next ten weeks.
It will be a 10 hole Stableford competition with weekly prizes in the four sections and there will also be team prizes and a Two’s club.
The winter league is the most popular event on the fixture list with over 200 players entering the competition, late entries are still being accepted.

Larry Ruddock topped the leaderboard in the Saturday Stableford competition with 41 points off his 13 handicap and victory was secured thanks to the count back over the last 9 holes from David Ruddell.
Larry had 23 points on the inward 9 and as a result of his success his handicap is now reduced to 12.
Second was David Ruddell on 41 points, third was Gareth Robinson on 40 points and fourth Geoff Allister on 38 points.
Fifth was Tim Sandford 37 points and sixth Glen Burns 37 points.
Gross winner was Gordon Willis 74.
The winner of the 14 hole Stableford on Thursday, September 14 was Connie Wilson with 33 points, second was Pete Savage on 30 points and 3rd Don Black on 28 points.
The Seniors 14 hole Stableford on September 21 was won by Stanley Jelly with 34 points.
Low section Ronnie Hynds 32 pts; High section Tom Mallon 30 pts; Veteran Brian Higgins 29 pts.
This Saturday is the final 18 hole qualifying competition of the year at Carrickblacker.
In the ladies section a 3 clubs and a putter competition was played over 14 holes.
First was June Garvin 26 points and beating Moira Irwin on 26 points into second place.
Third was Sharon Horsfall on 25 points.
The Winter League for the ladies starts on Wednesday 30th September and the teams are posted in the locker room. Members are reminded the annual quiz is on Friday, October 2.
